17. Foundations are in, electric almost live and benches on order 🥳⚽️

We had another productive weekend at the ground...

Foundations:-

Johnny Williams (of Will-Mor Groundworks and our under 15s Coach) & Scooby really pulled it out of the bag this weekend! 👊🏻👏🏼

We put a 5 hour shift in at the ground on Sunday and those pair absolutely smashed the foundations!

The slabs needed to be laid in a total number of 30 locations, and every single one of them needed to be installed at the same level! With this being the case, I was more than happy to be the labourer for the day (no responsibility!👀😂). These boys are groundworkers/builders so are the ideal men for the job. 👌🏼

Johnny and Scooby measuring the foundations and setting up the lazer level

Starting from the highest end of the car park, laying just the one slab on a thin mortar bed; they then worked their way over to the other end of the changing rooms. By this point the level of the tarmac had dropped and they had to lay 2 slabs deep to get up to the same level!

The boys made sure to measure as they were going along to check they were installing them in the correct positions and also that the slabs wouldn't stick out from beneath the changing rooms.

The slabs from start to end (and a death stare from Scooby 👀😂)

The boys managed to get all the pads in!👏🏼 The lazer level made sure they were all at the same height and the spirit level ensured they are all level. It should mean that once the changing rooms are installed and in use you could put a Malteser on the floor and it won't move an inch, check back in blog 22 to see the result of that!😜

A massive job done and thank you so much to Johnny and Scooby for giving up their time and helping do such a cracking job!

Electric:-

The electric board have now been booked in for 2 weeks time. They will come and connect to the existing cable which is located next to the pitch.

They will then install an electric meter within the box that we have installed up in the car park and lay a cable from one end to the other.

I cleared the area of the existing cable of overgrowth and made sure the electric box was secured in place ready. This will be another big step for us once this is made live!

Furniture on order:-

I mentioned in the last blog that we have secured £10,000 from the Comic Relief Grant for furniture and equipment. This week we placed the order for 21no benches and clothes hangers which will be delivered once the changing rooms are complete. The cost of these were £7500!😳 That leaves us with £2500 to get training equipment and other essential items for all our teams to use at the ground which is a massive help!!

Next steps:-

Our next jobs are to cut a trench and install electric duct from the box over to the rear of the changing rooms. We also need to install the drainage and backfill the open trenches.

After that it will then be all hands on deck to clear the remaining brambles and overgrowth from the corner the ground next to the fire station. This will be a location where our parents and supporters can stand to watch the games so it's important we get this done before opening day.

We could really do with some skips or help to get rid of all this once we cut it back so if anyone can help get rid of it all or knows someone that is willing then it will be very much appreciated?! 🤞🏻

Thanks for reading, KJ 👍🏻💙⚽️
